Quick Start – Creating Maps

Create a Private Map

Private maps are stored locally on the device and are not shared with other personnel or devices.

Follow the steps below to create a private map:

  1. Select the Private Maps tab at the top of the Main Menu Screen.

  2. Select the Create Private Map button under the tab.

  3. Enter a new name for the private map. This is optional for private maps. If you don’t provide a map name, your current street address and date will be used.

  4. Select the Create Private Map button to complete the set up. The Map Screen will appear with the new map.

Converting a Private Map to a Shared Map

You can convert a private map to a shared map if required, but once a map is shared you cannot un-share it. Follow the steps below to convert a private map to a shared map:

  1. Navigate to the Map Screen.

  2. Tap the Map Properties button in the top right corner.

  3. Tap the Export Button on the Map Properties screen

  4. Select Share All Features to convert the current map to a shared map.

Create a Shared Map

Shared maps are only shared within your Brigade. They allow multiple personnel to access the same map with real-time updates.

Follow the steps below to create a shared map:

  1. Select the Shared Maps tab at the top of the Main Menu Screen.

  2. Select the Create Shared Map button under the tab.

  3. Enter a new name for the shared map, at least 5 characters long. This is the map name that will be visible to other personnel. Agencies typically use naming conventions (follow your agency’s SOPs), such as including the month and year at the end of the map name.

  4. The Map Screen will appear with the new map. A shared map origin point will be automatically created and shared at your location.
