FireMapper InFlight

FireMapper InFlight is an Android application for connecting DJI aircraft to FireMapper. It allows RPAS pilots to share points, lines, photos and the drone’s location in real-time with FireMapper.

InFlight app is designed to connect to FireMapper iOS/Android via a local Wi-Fi connection. This can either be achieved by connecting both devices to the same mobile Wi-Fi hotspot or by using a mobile phone running FireMapper as a Wi-Fi hotspot and connecting the controller running InFlight to the phone’s hotspot.

FAQs

  1. I am unable to take photos with InFlight. The error message I receive states: “Unable to download photo metadata”

This issue may be related to the SD card being used with your controller. We recommend using an SD card that is DJI-approved and compatible with your drone. You may need to backup the data and reformat your SD card. To format the SD card, use the DJI Pilot 2 app by accessing the Camera settings, selecting the three dot menu, and selecting the “Format Memory Card” option.

  2. Can I use two controllers for my Drone; One using InFlight and the other using another app?

Yes. Only one app can fly the drone at a time, but InFlight can still collect information from another controller attached to the same drone. Each app will collect the log information for what it is doing, and you may need to combine these logs to ensure you have collected all the data for your flight.

  3. Will InFlight work with non-DJI drones?

No. InFlight has been developed using the DJI SDK, and currently only supports compatible DJI drones and controllers. For more information, review the Compatibility section of the InFlight Manual.

  4. Will InFlight work with FireMapper Standard?

No. FireMapper InFlight is designed for use with FireMapper Enterprise. If you have an iOS device with both FireMapper Enterprise and FireMapper Standard installed, you may need to remove FireMapper Standard in order to use InFlight.

  5. How do I check that I have the latest version of InFlight?

The version you have installed can be viewed in the Settings menu of InFlight.

From version 1.11 onwards, you may update InFlight from within the app by following the prompt on the status screen.

    Note

If your organisation controls the update schedule for your drones, please confirm with your supervisor instead.
